Endure Blog Tour Stop

Wrapped in darkness and woven with defeat, every action Chase has taken since being exiled from the Circle has been met with a devastating response. Now he’s been burdened with a quest that seems impossible, and he needs to evolve into something more—something greater than he ever thought he could be.

Armed with magic, friendship, and an unbreakable will, Chase must build an army and find a weapon capable of defeating the ultimate evil. But he knows that nothing great comes without sacrifice. Blessed by the very gods who have abandoned him and carrying the fate of all the worlds on his shoulders, Chase Williams is about to find out just how much one man can endure.

I was introduced to The Protector Series by Christina when she signed up for the cover reveal of Release back in September of last year. So I figured why not check out the books because they looked really interesting, M.R. Merrick blew my expectations out of the water. I absolutely loved this series and it’s a bittersweet moment to see it all come to an end. But I couldn’t have asked for a better ending if I tried. I spread out the reading along three days, so I can prolong the inevitable, I was actually trying to make it go on for a fourth day but there came a point where I couldn’t stop. The whole book was like that really, but I wanted to savior it a little more.

“I know why you made the decisions you made, and regardless of their outcomes, you’ve turned into something more than the boy I met months ago. You’ve grown, and not just into a man, but a true hunter. One I respect.” -Marcus

Chase has had to deal with so much more than a normal human, hell a normal hunter, demon, or half-breed for that matter. One of the things I took from Chase’s story is that, life isn’t always easy but anything worth having is worth fighting for. Whether its freedom, friendship, or love the point is to fight for what you believe in. Chase did exactly that. He grew so much in this book that it was amazing to see. Really throughout the series, it’s one of the reasons I will forever be a Matthew Merrick fan. He develops his characters, all of them, in a way that makes them seem real.  Granted I wouldn’t want to come face to face with some of his demons, but even the worlds he creates makes you wish you can go visit just to see the magnificence of it.
I was really sad at the end of Release, for those of you that have read it… all I need to do is say Willy and you’ll understand. That ending absolutely shattered me, I loved Willy. I wasn’t sure Chase was going to be able to move on from that, but in stride he did further proving his strength by using Willy’s memory to fuel his purpose. In every aspects of our life, loss is a major contributor but its how we deal with it, use it, to shape the person we become. It would be easy to wallow and give up, but it takes strength to turn it around and use the loss for something greater. Chase had to loose not only his mother but his best friend to realize that it’s not really just about them, but the bigger picture. He had to realize the strength inside himself to go on and defeat what lies ahead of him.

Chase and Rayna… Love the dynamic between the two of these characters. It’s an amazing sight to see them need each other so completely and want to protect the other one even if it means sacrificing themselves to do so. Their relationship has grown with them as they grew to become who was needed. Both played an important part in the end and I was crying because of all the pent up energy on what might happen. Matthew Merrick is one fantastic writer. Those of you are wondering if Chase and Rayna’s relationship takes it to the next level, well you’re going to have to read to find that out, but I will say you won’t be disappointed!

“I’ve endured too much to back down now. I have nothing left to fear. Not death, not life, and certainly not your god.”-Chase

Endure is full of action. Something is going down at every turn of the page. Whether it’s the gang fighting some demons on another dimension or figuring out how Chase needs to become the PROTECTOR, this book does not disappoint in action. I wasn’t a fan of Vincent at first. He started to get under my skin in Release but he completely dived under it in Endure and I can honestly say I have a place in my heart for the opinionated vampire. Tiki became a force to be reckon with. He’s everything Chase needed at the moment he needed courage. He also gave one of the best pep talks I’ve ever read, I want to share it with you, but it’s quite long so instead when you read this book and come to location 6013 this is what I’m talking about. You’ll know it when you see it.

I surprised myself at the end when I felt my heart tug for Drake. Yes, Drake is a dark brother and I should despise him for doing what he did. But when it came down to it he was doing it for family, how can you fault him for that. Though the way he was doing things were wrong, I know that but he won me over in the end. You’ll see why, it might change your mind it might not, but in this crazy world we spend our life on is really no different than the one Chase and his gang live in.

Chase was used as a pawn, the dark brothers were used as pawns, aren’t we all used as pawns at some point in our lives? If you haven’t picked this book up yet, you need to do so now and figure out the significance of why this series is so amazing! Just when I don’t think M.R Merrick can surprise me anymore, I’m blown away time and time again.

I have to say that I am sorry to see this series come to and end. I was glad when Dani joined me on the adventure.  I will say that M.R. Merrick takes you on an adventure with these books.  I felt like I was in the different worlds with Chase and the gang.  Endure was no exception.  My mind was blown away at the descriptions in this book.
We start the book with Chase grieving Willy's death.  I was still sad about it. Everyone is back together and is making a plan on how to get rid of Riley and the Dark Brothers.  Chase has to heal, he was beaten pretty badly.  One thing that I cheered about was the interaction with Rayna and Chase.  Their relationship grew stronger and there was so much feeling between them that it poured off the pages.  EVERYONE in this book grew.  Even Vincent.  Now I loved Vincent in all the books.  You might be shocked but ya sometimes I like those characters.  I felt so bad for what happens to him, but love that he moves along with the plan, always giving his Vincent input.
When Chase starts the process of becoming the full protector I will say I was very worried.  This is the point where I started reading faster and was mad when I was interrupted. The visit to Tiki's homeland had me laughing and worried, loved this part!
The Final battle scene had me so worried that things wouldn't end well.  I cried a bit and bit my nails but the ending was spectacular! This is a great ending to a powerful series by M.R. Merrick.
