Hale Maree Blog Tour

CATEGORY: NEW ADULT
GENRE:  STEAMY, CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE, NOT SUITABLE FOR YOUNG ADULT READERS.
Hale Simmons dreams of climbing out of her impoverished life, going to college, and getting herself a titanium crash helmet, so she can eventually bust through the Plexiglas ceiling of her crappy life. But for now, she's just a 18-year-old girl with a flimsy hope, barely getting by with her alcoholic father, Jerry.
But for Hale, 'crappy' suddenly takes a nosedive, when Jerry becomes the sole witness to a horrible accident. It is an event which means to affect everyone, especially Hale, who wasn't even involved.

While the depth of the accident has just begun to unfold, Otto Maree, a prominent business man and old family friend, stands to lose everything because of it. Otto is desperate for Hale's father to stay quiet about what occurred the night the two men meet for a drink. Out of mutual moments of desperation, the two fathers forge a deal. Jerry is desperate to gain financial stability for both himself and Hale, and Otto Maree is more than willing to pay to keep his secret just that.

But deals like this need to be made of the strongest vows and bound with the most faithful of loyalties. Otto proposes a marriage between Hale and his playboy-son, Oscar, in order to assure that the secret remains 'in the family'. The mystery surrounding the accident continues to grow and Hale struggles against her own mysterious feelings that begin to develop for Oscar, who turns out to less of a playboy, but just as fiercely loyal and dedicated as his father.

As the pressure around her continues to escalate, Hale realizes that she's got to decide if this arranged marriage is really just a big mistake or an amazing twist of fate that has been waiting around for this particular accident to happen.

Hey everyone we have a special treat for you today, Landon agreed to let us Interview him! If you haven’t had the chance to read Hale Maree yet, you need to get on that pronto!  So you’re probably wondering why Christina is MIA, would it be totally wrong for me to say that I told her the wrong date? I know I’m horrible right, *sigh* well I didn’t do it totally on purpose.  I got the days mixed up somehow and she made plans with her hubby so, well, I didn’t want to ruin those plans so I decided to do the interview with Landon solo! So without further ado or judgment, Lol, here it is!

Hey Landon, I’m Danielle but everyone calls me Dani! I want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to get to know you a little better!

Happy to be here, Dani.  I’m Oscar’s best buddy and I’m ready to sell him out.  (chuckles)  Fire away.

So Landon, how long have you known Oscar?
Forever.  Our mothers were sorority sisters, so we’ve known each other from birth on.

That’s awesome, you guys are practically brothers. I don’t feel so bad talking about him a lot then. (laughs)

So Oscar let it slip that you never really liked Sophia, care to explain?
He told, huh?  It’s true.  Nothing against Soph, but she was into her friends more than she was into Oscar.  I thought she was a gold digger at first, but then I realized that wasn’t it either.   Oscar was looking for a serious girl, he wanted to wife-up and Soph just wasn’t that girl.  She wasn’t in that mode.  I thought she liked his money and she liked having a good looking guy on her arm, but she wasn’t thinking the same way Oscar was.  If you see your buddy headed for the side of a mountain, you try to steer him out of the way, right?

Definitely, he’s lucky he has someone like you around!

When you and Amy showed up early to the beach house, I feel like it was on purpose, was there an agenda or coincidence?
It was my birthday weekend and Amy was just itching to get up there.  I’ve been trying to get with Ames for a while and since we just started going out and she was all in for a weekend at the beach house?  I wasn’t going to wait around for her to change her mind.  She didn’t have to twist my arm a whole lot to get me to take the rest of the week off work.

What’s with Amy and Soph, if I had either one of you guys I would want to spend as much time together as possible, not in the clingy sense but like we are together sense. They didn’t know what they were missing!

When you first met Hale, what was your first thought?
I thought she was a pretty girl, young.  She was shy and there was something sweet about her.  I knew Oscar was into her right off.  It was obvious, the way he wouldn’t take his eyes off her.

Amy seemed like a piece of work from the start, what was it that you saw in her?
Amy’s hot.  She’s a bombshell.  Have you seen her?  She had that zip to her too, like you’re not going to tell her anything.  She’ll tell you.  I like a girl that wants to go toe-to-toe with me sometimes.

While you and Oscar where outside did he tell you anything about what was going on?
He was going on about Hale.  While I expected to hear it, it was strange too because Oscar’s not a guy that just falls in love on the drop of a dime.  He’s usually a snail.  It took him a while to finally ask Sophia out, he just wasn’t sure of her and you can tell him to jump in and try it out, but he’s not that guy.  He thinks things through.  He’s picky.  So, when I saw him with Hale, it was like she put a spell on him or something.  He was all about her so quick, I knew there was something magnetic going on.  Then he asked me to be his best man and I was like, holy shit, this is serious.

When you and Hale got stuck at the table together, if you could have said more would you have and what would it be?
No, I wouldn’t have said anything.  What could I say anyway?  It’s not like they need dating advice.  If she didn’t want to be with him, she wouldn’t and vice versa.  I don’t get into OC’s business, or anyone’s for that matter.

What did you think when Oscar let you in on his plans on marrying Hale? Seemed sudden right?
I thought it was fast, but I also know Oscar.  Like I said, he’s not a frying-pan-to-fire kind of guy.  I knew that if he fell in love with this girl that fast, then she must have knocked it out of the park, because he’s not an easy sell.

Was Amy right when she said that Oscar looked at Hale differently than Sophia or any other girl for that matter?
Oh yeah.  Oscar’s not a guy that hangs on girls.  He can usually take it or leave it.  He’s the guy that doesn’t call right after a date.  He’s the dude that doesn’t care if a girl turns him down or dumps him.  He’s never had a shortage of girls wanting to be with him, and he’s never felt like he had to work to please any of them, so seeing him following Hale around and doing everything he could think of for her, well, that was totally new.  I knew he had it bad.

When did you realize he was in love with Hale?
When he told me he wanted me to be his best man.  You don’t get how slow Oscar is in making decisions.  When he bought his truck, he researched trucks for months before he decided on one.  It’s not like, this is the kind of truck I like, so I’ll get one.   With OC, he’s got to know every aspect of what he’s getting into before he commits, so I knew that he had to be in love with Hale to propose so fast.  Not to mention how protective he was of her.  He never cared that much about any of his girlfriends before.  If they came or went, he was fine with it.  But not Hale.  It was different all the way around with her.

Talk about a sucky birthday getaway, stuck in the bathroom, shopping trip with the girls, bet you wished you stayed home instead huh?
I wish the whole thing had never happened.  Knowing what I know now, I would’ve never eaten the fish.  No, you’re right.  I would’ve never even gone.  You’re a bright girl, you know that?

(Blushes & laughs) Thanks! You’re not so bad yourself Landon.

I have to know, looking for Pepto at the mall, was a cover up to look for something with Oscar right, or did you really need it?  It was a cover up.  We had to get away and get the ring.  OC had called the jeweler and made arrangements for the ring to be delivered there.  When you’re a Maree, you can make stuff like that happen.

I knew it! Not that I wasn’t seriously worried about your umm issues, but I knew something was up.

So swimming while your 10 bananas, not the brightest idea, what happens next less so, did you ever pick up on any signs that Amy was crazy like that?  (laughs)  I want to make it clear that I didn’t exactly EXPECT to go swimming.  That’s how 10 bananas I was.   I was actually hoping that Amy would get naked and Oscar and Hale would leave us to get down to it in the sand.  But what ended up happening? That was beyond 10 bananas.  Never saw that coming.

What was going through your head when you walked into the house and saw Hale’s face?  Holy shit and then, HOLY SHIT.  I couldn’t believe it, but going at Hale at that point was like going after my sister-in-law.  That doesn’t happen and it isn’t going to happen.  I was looking for a good time and that wasn’t a good time at all.

After getting crazy on the train, getting your things together, let us inside your head, you had to be confused, pissed off, and even more curious on why your best friend and Hale are moving fast. What were you thinking?   I was beyond pissed.  I’d had it.  I’d turned myself inside out in the bathroom all day and then, when I thought I was going to get buzzed and get a little out on the beach, well, you know what happened.  Oscar and Hale weren’t even on my radar to be honest.  I was put out that it was my birthday weekend and now I didn’t have anyone to put out.  I know, shallow, but hey, it was my birthday.

Could totally understand that, birthday sex is supposed to be banging and being on the beach would have been perfect. I have to admit your way better off without Amy you deserve someone better!

What did you think about the wedding?  I thought I was going to live it up to maybe 20 bananas and get with that little bridesmaid friend of Hale’s.  Sher.  Pretty girl.

So what are you doing now Landon, are you single? *smirks*  Are you asking?  * smirks back *  You can get my number from Oscar.

(fans self) I’m pretty sure it just got hot in here, I’ll do that. (winks)
Tell me, will we hear from you again, maybe your own story?  Don’t know.   I can’t imagine what anybody would want to know about me.  Oscar’s the love boat, you know?  Look at the guy.  We’ll see, I guess.

Give yourself some credit Landon. Oscar may be the love boat, but there’s something underneath the surface with you… I would love to see beneath the sexy exterior.

Thanks again Landon for bearing with me and answering some questions! I had a great time and the description Hale gives of you isn’t enough, you’re totally hot!  I wouldn’t mind spending some more time with you! *wink wink* Oh wow I can’t believe I just said that out loud, *blushing*, umm so yeah thanks again!  Thanks for having me, Dani, I had a good time.  You ask great questions.  Oh, and like I said, Oscar’s got my number.  Make sure you get it from him, alright?   Maybe we could go up to Oscar’s beach house sometime.  You like the water?  You ever get 10 bananas?  I could totally show you how... * smiles*

Yup definitely got hotter in here and I will be getting that number. Beach house, water, 10 bananas, and umm a makeup birthday weekend (hint hint) with you Landon… Count me in! *smiles*

Make sure you guys pick up Hale Maree if you haven’t already! I need to go grab a cold shower and get Oscar to give me Landon’s number! I’m really glad I didn’t tell Christina about the interview now! *Laughs* Be sure to check out Misty’s other books as well! The Cornerstone series is phenomenal!

Here's our review again and go all the way through to the end because there's some awesome giveaways! Misty seriously rocks!

So I absolutely fell in love with Misty Provencher when I read her Cornerstone Series. She is totally awesome was so excited when she started venturing out of the limitations of YA. Hale Maree is seriously awesome.  I could not wait to read it and I read it so fast and adored it.
So Hale, awesome name right? I swear Misty is so creative when it comes to naming her characters. Anyways, Hale lives with her alcoholic father, just graduated…high school, has an awesome best friend named Sher, not a perfect life but she’s ok. That is until her dad comes home drunk with a friend. Usually she just escapes to her room, but this time she over hears the conversation between her dad and his friend. A conversation that has her completely freaked out. I mean if your dad just agreed to have you married to his friend’s son, you would be creeped out too right? Who does that these days, I mean come on. Totally against the idea, she decides she’s going to refuse it as much as she can. She meet’s the guy when they drive to his house to pick him up to pass out flyers, and the guy, Oscar, is HOTT and moves like smoke. Is she going to be able to resist him?
Oscar is helping his dad’s friend and the friend’s daughter pass out flyers for the new landscaping company they established. He has no clue what is going on just yet. So he talks to Hale tells her she’s pretty and that he has a girlfriend. He calls Hale later that night to invite her for some coffee, when Hale talks about his loyalty to his girlfriend his reply is genious, “I am,” he sighs,”but if you are going to be my wife, I guess that trumps and loyalty I have to a girlfriend, now doesn’t it?” I seriously love Oscar, he’s smart, sexy, and perfect in his imperfectness. That gets her to meet him, and when she arrives home, Oscar being a gentleman walks her to the door.
Hale opens the door to find a drunk father and her stuff packed. Yelling occurs and a broken bottle of whiskey later, Hale is getting back in the truck with Oscar. Oscar grabs some clothes from his house and they head to his beach house.  Is it possible to turn a crappy situation around? Can Hale give Oscar a chance and getting to know her and letting him in? Can love be formed in a matter of a week? Well you are going to have to read to see if Oscar and Hale make their arranged marriage mean more than that.
-Dani
I love Misty Provencher 's Keystone series and was PUMPED to Read Hale Maree after she described it on twitter. My super awesome friend and blogger partner Dani bought it for me.  I was glad she did!

Hale and her dad are so poor. They live in the poor part of town and scrape by.  One night Hale is cooking dinner when her dad comes home drunk with a friend.  She feeds them and leaves.  She is actually scared how they are talking because her dad says...... that ........ He agrees to marry her off to this guys son Oscar.  It's like they have set it all up!  Hale is MORTIFIED! She does not want this to happen!  Her friend Sher wants to help her get away, but Hale decides to stick with it.

Helping her dad put out flyers for the lawn business Hale gets to meet Oscar.  She is not sure she likes him. But he is super cute.  Oscar invites her out for coffee to try to get to know her.  This leads to Hale freaking out, and Oscar is so patient.  When she gets home what awaits her? Her dad has packed her things and Sends her to live with Oscar.  She FREAKS!

What happens when Hale spends a WEEK with Oscar? What is the Real thing that has this marriage by force set up! And Can Two People Fall in love in one week despite ALL these odds that are against them?

READ!! And I will tell you, you will FALL in LOVE with OSCAR. WOW what a cutie! So patient, kind and wonderfully loving.  Do they sell guys like him at the store? Really? Great Job Misty!

Instead, what retrieves her is something she never expected: a gargoyle.
Delivered to Truce, the King of the Gargoyles, Madeline now has choices she never wanted.  She has the ability to take over the entire Gargoyle Kingdom, if she is willing to kill the king.  However, looking to prevent takeover, Truce transforms Madeline, thereby granting her the ability to achieve the thing she wants most—death—if she can just find the human recipient for the Gargoyle Gift that she now has to give.  It should be easy.
But lives, whether they are lived or not, are seldom simple, and Madeline’s past still stands in her way. Now, only a voyeur in the life of The Boy with the Golden Rod Voice, Madeline’s must reconcile her own life and death, if she ever hopes to have free reign of her soul.

Miss Me Not

They had a pact.
Leave the world behind much as they had lived it.
No one would miss them. No harm, no foul.
Their personal demons would be left behind once and for all.
It was the only thing they could count on.
It was all she had.

Madison Hanson has spent the last four years being a "shadow." Her parents ignore her. The students at her school stopped talking to her years ago, and the majority of her teachers forget she's even there. In her desperate yearning to leave her invisible life behind, Madison makes a pact with her only friend, James Garrison, to end their lives as inconspicuously as they live them. No fuss, no muss. No one would miss her and she would miss no one. Their plan is set, and it's all she can count on. That is, until fellow student, Mitch Peterson, beats them to the punch. Everything Madison believed in is shaken to the core when she watches the aftermath of Mitch's death unfold. By taking his own life, Mitch unwittingly saves hers. What a selfish prick.

She is now left with the daunting task of living. Trying to bury her demons once and for all, and finally trusting someone with her fragile existence.

Living is hell.
Death would have been so much easier.

So one of the things that I absolutely LOVE about Tiffany King is her ability to write a book about a controversial issue and make you feel characters are feeling. Suicide is something I take very seriously and I hate when people bash it or the people we have lost. So I applaud Tiffany for taking on such a strong topic and doing so in an amazing job. Most of you are wondering why I can applaud her and say that what she has written is the truth. This is why; up until I was 18 I struggled with life and seriously thought about suicide. In some cases Madison and I are alike so I can relate to her.  Where she made a pact with her best friend James, I actually tried to go through with it. Her tattoo’s on her wrist are there to remind herself, I have a tattoo on my left wrist for the same reason. Only mine is the Chinese symbol for faith, it covers up my scar of the one time I tried to cut my wrist. So that’s my story and that why I love Miss Me Not and Tiffany King for writing this book. The more people bring this epidemic to attention, maybe the more lives could be saved.  I wasn’t able to find a statistic for 2011 but there were 38,364 suicide deaths reported in the U.S. in 2010. Many of you might have known one of these people, some of you have might not, and some of you might know one or more who could become part of the statistic for this year. The point is to open your eyes and see what’s around you. YOU could be the person to change the life of someone even if you don’t realize it. Okay I know you are probably tired of reading about this.. so on to the book!

Madison had a really hard life. She had two parents who were there but who never actually there. So she took it upon herself to try and get the attention of them. Granted some was a little extreme and one that ultimately ended pretty badly. That one thing ultimately left Madison feeling alone and had her fading into the background. Being in Jr.High/High school and the rumors spreading about her didn’t help her see the point in life. When she met James, who became her best friend, the pact was formed. Their friendship wasn’t the typical friendship; they provided comfort for each other, an out. That was until a fellow “shadow” stole their thunder. Then Madison had to meet with a tutor for one of the classes she was in, what she didn’t see coming was that it was going to be Dean. Madison considered him to be possibly the king of the populars, but she didn’t count on developing feelings for him.

I absolutely love Dean. He is quite possibly the best guy ever, so sweet, and never gives up. He starts off by tutoring Madison and gets her to agree to more tutoring even though it was supposed to be the one time. He slowly starts to chip away at the wall she’s built around herself. Getting her to open up to his touches and hanging out. He ignores the rumors about Madison and agrees to keep their friendship a secret. He takes her to meet his parents, to her first time at a theme park, and gains her trust. Dean is slowly getting under Madison’s skin. He’s getting her to trust him. It’s not easy and Madison pushes every chance she gets telling him she doesn’t need to be saved… but whether or not she needs to be saved, maybe, just maybe Dean has his own motives?

What happened to Madison that has her making a pact with James to be suicide buddies? What’s the reason for Dean wanting Madison to trust him so badly? Will Madison and Dean’s attraction for each other make the friendship line blur into something more?  The ultimate question…what happens to Madison, was she saved or does she become another statistic?

You have to pick up this book and buy it. It is beautiful and Tiffany King, there’s no words to express how much I love and appreciate the time and effort it took to write a book like this. You are a hero and definitely brought hope to anyone who reads this and has is considering suicide. I want you to know, speaking from personal experience, that I wish I had a book like this to read when I was in that position in my life, sometimes all we need is a little hope. This book is that hope.

-Dani
I think I have read all of Tiffany Kings books and they are all amazing! She takes topics that are hard in life and tackles them in an amazing book.

Teen suicide is a huge topic in today's society.  So is bullying. It breaks my heart to  know that so many teens and kids have to suffer for not being accepted.  I don't think I have ever thought about killing myself, but it did cross my mind what would happen if I didn't exsist.  There are some days when that still crosses my mind. People need to be wise with their words.  Words in ANY form (text, email, written, spoken) when said in malice or hate..... HURT.  You don't know WHAT that does to a person.  You don't know what they are going through in life, be careful with your words.

When I was younger my uncle ended his life. HE could not handle life anymore. I wish there was someone there who could have stopped him.

In Miss Me Not we find Madison, who has had a pretty rough life. Her parents neglect her and she searches out any way possible to see attention.  Changes her appearance, and even flirts with an older man. What happened as a result broke her family, created a MEAN mother ( pissed me off that mother) and left Madison at the ridicule of all the kids at school.  She tried to fade into the background.  Madison and her friend James (who was also suffering inside), had made a pact to end their lives together.  One day at school the found out a boy from their school had ended his life.  It seemed to have changed Madison at the students reaction to that.  I will say Now.... my heart broke for her life but my heart cried for James. I still am crying as I write this and he is a fictional character, however there are boys like him everywhere.

Madison gets a tutor Named Dean. He's popular and she does not know WHY he gives a care about her.  You will see HOW long he has cared about her. (smiles) Dean decides that he WILL be her friend and does not give into her pushing him away. He cares about her feelings. Dean inserts himself into Madison's life, saving her in the process.  You have to read how. There is sadness in this book.... I don't want to give it away.... but it shows what a STRONG character Dean is and what a wonderful family he has, as they help Madison.

I recommend you going to get this book and reading it right away.  Share it with someone who you think might benefit from the story.

Be kind, watch your words, help save a life.
