Keystone Review

There’s a man-made storm coming, like a rip in the world, and it’s called the Cusp.

Struggling to fit into the destiny she’s accepted, Nalena Maxwell has been left with one objective: she must find her murdered grandfather’s Memory. Stolen and hidden away by her own father over seventeen years ago, the Memory could be the key to ending the Cusp and destroying the Ianua’s rival community, The Fury.

Driven by each individual’s selfish desires, The Fury has always lacked the loyalty and organization it needs to be an actual force of power.

Until now.

Someone masterminded the Fury’s massive attack on the Ianua, slaughtering twelve of their thirteen community leaders, the Addos. Now there are rumors that the 13th Cura, to which Nali belongs, has gone to the Fury, manipulating the last Addo in order to control the other 12 Curas.

As the Cusp brings the Fury and their own communities against them, Nalena’s Cura must preserve the Ianua, but finding the key to the Cusp isn’t as simple as it seems.

Keystone Review

So we end off Cornerstone with some massive things going on. Nalena chooses her path of walking as a Contengo and starts the Impressioning. Goes to a party with Garret to come home to her mother and father Roger. Now doesn’t sound like a big deal right… well its massive you see because Roger isn’t one of the good guys. Nalena drops the Cornerstone in hope that Roger will let them go peacefully and that doesn’t happen.

So now we are up to Keystone…. Keystone starts with Nali having to be re-impressioned. It’s painful and she checks out for a little while. They are also hiding because the world has gone crazy. But the one thing that remains the same is Nalena and Garrett’s love for each other. We get introduced to new characters and loose some really awesome ones.

“We’ll have to do more thinky thinky about that later, because I was about to come looking for you.”-Zane

One of the new character’s I love is Zane. He’s also a Contengo, has a twin sister who is simple, and a Vieo. What’s that? Well you’re going to have to read to find that out and trust me when I say you want to read it because it looks like Garrett has a Vieo too… So back to Zane, as you can see from that quote up there, the kid is hilarious. I swear I cracked up laughing so hard whenever he was around! LOVE him, he has this flare about him that you want to be like “shut up Zane” but then at the same time be like “dude your awesome!” Like no joke, he’s one of my favs!

This book is seriously packed with info but not in a way that’s going to leave you wondering what’s going on. Nali has to learn to defend herself, courtesy of her teacher Zane, and she needs to do it fast. Luckily her instincts kick in and she’s able to do what she has to when needed. But she’s told that she and Garrett need to keep their distance. However it doesn’t work the way it does for everyone else.

“This is incredible. It shouldn’t happen this way, but we’re stronger when we’re together and we drain when we’re apart.”

Absolutely loved this book. This was the third time I’ve read it and I picked up on more stuff this time around. That’s what I love about Misty’s books. They don’t get old and you find something new each time you read it. You also fall more in love with Garrett. Find new people not to trust, worry about each person in the Cura, and wonder what possibly can go wrong next. It leaves you feeling like OMG can they not get a break?!?! Seriously though, I cannot wait to see what new develops for Nali and Garrett. Something obviously is special about them or maybe it’s going to be something that’s going to hinder them?!

Oh no!!! Ahhh *runs to start reading Jamb*

First if you haven't read cornerstone ...stop. Because this book picks up where it left off.

Okay.... Wow Keystone is full of Suspense. Misty Rocked the action in this book. First Nali has to re -impression herself because she dropped the stone.  But what is more painful is her mother has died and so has Garrett's dad. I started the book off crying. Then Nali goes through the impressioning process, again.

A "memory" has to happen for Nali's mom and Garrett's dad. It's like a funeral for us. In that a special memory is revealed for Nali only. Nali has another special trait, but it must be kept a secret. One character in this book I find hilarious is Zane! It's hard to describe his hilarity. He lets it slip that Nali is Garrett's Vieo. What is that you ask? Well you will have to read to find out.

Nali has to be trained in fighting like a contego, others have to train her because being near Garrett drains her energy. Hiding from the fury, trying to protect the ado, and Sean becoming an Ado can they all stay safe from the fury? And can they find Nali's grandfathers memory? Best scene ever? Well one of them?? They all go up in a ball that Zane has made. I think I got scared of heights just reading that part! There is so much intensity in this book that you aren't sure if they will ever be safe. And the desire between Nali and Garrett is so there that you want it to happen already!

So do I love this book ? Yes. And I excited I have JAMB (book 3) next? Yes... Trust me, get it because you will want to stay on this adventure.  It's hard for me not to tell you everything but seriously.... I was surprised at each turn!
